“…the prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” James 5:16

Beloved Ones in Christ,

We are extremely grateful to you for upholding us in prayer as we traveled and ministered in India from February 9th through March 13th. God has answered your prayers! Though Mariamma and I were a little weak from our health issues in January, God energized us to do the traveling and to accomplish great things for the Lord in India. Our son, Dayan, was indeed a tremendous help, encouragement, and blessing in dealing with many of the different situations with the government in India.

We were happy to have Kendra Eicher (from Ohio) join us for a short-term mission trip. She was a great blessing and encouragement to all the Bible College students, children in our Children’s Home, as well as the staff.

We thank the Lord for bringing many people from different walks of life to study the Bible at IEM. In January, 195 professional people graduated from our Leadership Training Institute, and many made a decision to serve the Lord. In the last two months, they have joined together for three 10-day Gospel Campaigns to surrounding cities. They have distributed literature and shared the Gospel in the marketplaces, and many people have come to know the Lord.

On March 4th, 25 students graduated from our Bible College. Along with their diploma, we presented each one with a study Bible. We thank God for graciously supplying that need. The Bible College graduates and other students have now gone to the north & northeastern part of India for summer ministry. They will be sharing the Gospel house-to-house and holding various outreach programs. Please pray for their protection and for the effectiveness of their ministry.

The Lord is stirring a revival in Mumbai and surrounding cities. Many people have been reached with the Gospel during the past year, and our place of worship is fully packed. Please pray that the revival will continue, and that many shall be added to the Kingdom of our Lord.

Once again, we express our hearty gratitude to all of you for your love, fervent prayers, and sacrificial giving. May the Lord bless you richly and fill your hearts with His joy. We love you and uphold you in our prayers.

Yours in His Service,

G.V. Mathai

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap,
if we do not give up” – Galatians 6:9

A Prayer Letter from Dayan Mathai, Executive Director

Dear Ones in Christ,

Thank you for lifting us up in prayer as we prepared for our trip to India this month. My dad, mom and I arrived safely in Kerala on Sunday, February 12th. We are doing well and happy to be on campus visiting with the staff, college students and children. Please continue to pray for my parents’ strength and health. We’ve had a full schedule since we arrived. But we are thankful for all that is happening on campus.

The beginning of the year is always a very busy season for the ministry. Last week, the Bible College students took their final exams. 195 students successfully graduated from the Leadership Training Institute and 25 Bible College students are preparing to graduate on March 4th. Pray that the Lord would continue to encourage the students as they study His Word and prepare to complete their courses shortly. After the graduation ceremony, the college students will be traveling extensively for their short-term mission. Many will be returning home to conduct ministry, and others will be traveling elsewhere in India. Please pray for their protection, safety, strength and endurance as they put into practice the biblical training they have had this school year.

The children are excited that we have arrived on campus. They have been performing songs, skits and reciting Bible verses for us. We are so encouraged to see the children express their joy as they worship the Lord. In between spending time with the children and Bible college students, we have been busy with many meetings, planning for the next school year and making some decisions about facilities, faculty, and staff. Please pray for the Lord to guide us.

This week, Dad and I traveled north to Mumbai. We gathered believers from several congregations in the area for a combined worship and baptism service. It is wonderful to worship with so many believers from several congregations throughout India’s most populated city. ¬¬
We are also planning for the annual Christian Worker’s Conference that will take place during the first week of March, leading up to graduation. Please pray that the Lord would prepare the hearts of all in attendance at the conference. We pray that it will be an uplifting and encouraging time for the hundreds who will be attending. We expect about 50 of our sponsored evangelists to travel to our campus for the event. Please pray for their safety.

Thank you for your faithful prayers. We remember you in our prayers as well. We look forward to sharing the rest of our journey with you upon our return in March.

Yours in His Service,

Dayan Mathai

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10

Dear Ones in Christ,

This year we were faced with and rose to the challenge of responding to change and uncertainty across the globe. Amidst the unanswered questions of this year, we remember the Lord’s faithfulness. We are to continue placing our trust in He who is on the throne. While 2016 is coming to a close, we look forward with hope to the New Year.

I have been reflecting on the old hymn, “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus”. The song originates from northeastern India and is sung in many Sunday worship services at the IEM Bible College. We should be encouraged by the lyrics, “The world behind me, the cross before me; No turning back, no turning back.” Those who seek the will of God will be guided and directed and given great peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

This month also marks the end of the 50th anniversary celebration year for IEM. This year, we have reflected on His provision, and we have seen His faithfulness at work in abundant ways. As our faithful partners, you have served the ministry in fundamental ways, encouraging and blessing us immeasurably. By the Lord’s power, we have been able to accomplish much together. As we move into a new year, we move forward with the same vision that has motivated us for 50 years: to obey the command to share the Good News of the Gospel with those who have not heard the message of salvation.

This Christmas season, I think of William Booth, the founder of Salvation Army. He helped the poor by first cleaning them up, giving them a cup of soup and then sharing the love of God with them. This is a vision that has shaped how we serve the people of India: providing for their physical, material and spiritual needs. In this way, we share God’s love. May the Lord grant us each the opportunity to love one another in this way.

Please pray for our upcoming trip to India. God willing, Mariamma, Dayan and I plan to depart on January 13th. In February, friends from Ohio will join us at the campus for a time of service. Please pray for health and safe travel for all of us.

We thank God for you and the goodness of His provision. We pray the Lord to bless you, guide and direct you, prosper you and protect you from all evil. May you have a very Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!

Yours in His Service,

G.V. Mathai
