“Ship your grain across the sea; after many days you will receive a return.” (Ecclesiastes 11:1)

Beloved Ones in Christ,

As I write this letter, I am reminded that among the teeming millions in India, over 90% of the people do not know Christ and are living without the blessed hope of eternal life. While this is daunting, I am encouraged by this verse in Isaiah, “So is My Word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it” (55:11). The Lord is faithful when we share His Word with those who do not know Him. He is stirring up new bodies of believers across India. People are responding to the Word of God and becoming saved in great numbers.

On June 11th, another school year began with 16 new first-year students and 54 second and third-year students enrolled. Many of them have just returned from their three-month summer ministry. They are excited to have seen many come to know the Lord through VBS programs, Bible studies, and open-air meetings that they organized during their summer ministry.

One of our third-year students, Manny (name changed for privacy), just returned from a ministry trip to northeastern India with several friends from IEM. Before Manny came to know the Lord personally, he was living a life of substance abuse and violence. He rejoices that he now lives in the grace of God, and is passionate about sharing the Gospel that transformed his life. He hopes to return to northeastern India after graduation to continue supporting ministry initiatives there. Please pray that the Lord will continue to equip students like Manny, our graduates, and evangelists to boldly proclaim the good news of the Gospel.

The children in our Children’s Home are also excited for the start of a new school year.  Currently, we have 55 children in our Children’s Home, and we support another 60 in their homes.  Many of them have come from a life of abuse and neglect. We are so thankful that the Lord has given them to us to nurture as we share the love of God with them.  It is with your prayerful and financial support that we are helping these children grow in the Lord. Thank you!

Because of my hip pain, I am not able to make the trip to India this month. However, our son Dayan is there to oversee the start of the new school year.  He will also meet with the India board of directors, along with the evangelists in Kerala and Mumbai. Please pray the Lord will give Dayan a safe journey and anointing from the Holy Spirit to preach His Word.  Mariamma and I appreciate your continued prayers for us, especially for Mariamma’s health.  We uphold you in our daily prayers, and we love you very much!

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all,
G.V. Mathai

“…And all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.”

Isaiah 52:10

Beloved Ones in Christ,

I write this letter with a grateful heart for your love and commitment to help the work of our Lord in India.  Because of your prayers and support, we have been able to reach a multitude of people with the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ over the years. You will be receiving our newsletter in the next week or two, with pictures and updates on the various ministries.

Our Bible College students will be returning from their short-term mission work by the end of May.  The new school year will commence for the students and children on the first week of June.  Please pray that the Lord will give us grace to select Bible College students who are committed to the work of the Lord.

Recently our team of workers conducted two special evangelistic meetings in Kerala State where five churches joined together.  We also held special meetings in Orissa.  I have reports that the meetings were well attended, and many people made decisions for Christ.  Revival continues in Mumbai, where the evangelists are earnestly working to reach out to many villages.  Because of these crusades and conferences, people are coming to know the Lord and growing strong in their faith with fellow believers.

Since returning from India in February, I have been undergoing tests and treatment for my hip pain.  If I feel better, I will go to India with my son Dayan the second week of June.  My wife, Mariamma, is recovering from another bout with pneumonia.  Please continue praying for both of us (especially Mariamma’s complete healing), and for our son Dayan to have a safe, fruitful ministry in June.

I thank the Lord for inspiring many dear saints in America to take the Gospel to the unreached people in India.  As the Lord extends our days here on earth, let us fulfill the Great Commission of our Lord to take the Gospel to all nations of the world and minister to the poor and needy.  Hebrews 4:12 says the Word of God is powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword.  It will accomplish that which God has purposed. We thank the Lord for your faithful partnership.  May the Lord reward you and bless you abundantly.

With Much Love,
G.V. Mathai

“Without faith it is impossible to please God.” ~ Hebrews 11:6

Beloved Ones in Christ,

We are so grateful to you for your partnership with the work of our Lord in India. Thank you for your continued and faithful prayers. As it is written in Hebrews (see verse above), your faith is pleasing to the Lord. We are blessed to live out our faith in action with you. Your partnership is a cornerstone of this ministry, and we treasure your prayers as we continue to equip Indian nationals to transform India with the hope of the Gospel.

Despite the obstacles we face and the confrontations we experience as a ministry based in India, the Lord remains faithful and has protected His servants as they share the Truth with others through evangelism, care, and compassion. They are carrying out the Lord’s Great Commission to “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel,” and they claim the promise that His peace and presence and protection will be with them wherever they go (Matthew 28). We continue to ask God to empower these missionaries and enable them to bring many into His Kingdom.

Our team in India is preparing for evangelistic outreaches in two districts in Kerala state. Please pray for our pastors, church members and sponsored evangelists who are prayerfully anticipating this upcoming ministry excursion. We also ask that you pray for the hearts of those who they will be meeting on these short trips. Some are sure to learn the name of Jesus for the first time; others may be re-introduced to the love of God. Please pray that their ears would be receptive and their hearts open to the message of the Gospel.

Our Bible College students, including some who attended the Leadership Training Institute, have gone for three months of outreach ministry — visiting homes, sharing the Gospel, and hosting Bible studies in the villages. Please pray for their continued safety, health and renewed encouragement. This is a wonderful time for our students to apply what they have learned about evangelism and discipleship in their Bible classes.

We have appointed one of our Bible College graduates, Kiran (Class of 2013), to visit all our mission stations across India, as Brother Babu Paul was doing before he passed away in 2016. Kiran will travel to our ministry centers to encourage the believers as they hold evangelistic meetings. He is an enthusiastic young man, with a great desire to serve the Lord. Please pray for him as he travels and carries on the Lord’s work.

Again, your faithful partnership has enabled us to introduce many people to the unfailing love of the Lord. I wish I could come and visit all of you and express my gratitude to you in person.  Please continue praying for us, especially for Mariamma to be healed.  We love you all and uphold you in our prayers.

Yours in His Service,

G.V. Mathai
