“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior,

who is Christ the Lord.” ~ Luke 2:11

Beloved Ones,

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!  As we celebrate His birth this month, we are ever grateful that He came to redeem us from our sin so that all who believe in Him could receive the gift of eternal life.  I John 2:2 says, “He is the propitiation (sacrifice) for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

The ministry in India is progressing well, and many people have come to know the Lord this year.  As you know, we have several evangelists in the northeastern state of Orissa.  Last month I received an encouraging phone call from one evangelist who graduated from the Bible College several years ago. We partnered with his congregation to build a church, and he called to share that they will be holding special evangelistic meetings this month. They will also be distributing clothing and blankets to many poor families in their area. Please pray for this congregation as they do ministry this Christmas season.

God willing, I will be leaving for India on January 1, 2018.  Our annual Christian Workers’ Conference will be held January 17-21.  Workers from all over India will gather on our campus for a time of encouragement and rejoicing as they share how the Lord has been blessing their ministry centers. IEM will be covering their travel expenses, accommodations and food. That week there will be special meetings held on our campus in the evenings.  Our Bible College Graduation service will be on the 20th.  We will also be holding a convention in Mumbai at the end of January, where Dayan will be joining me. Please pray for revival, and that the Holy Spirit will convict many souls to commit their lives to Christ.

In February the Bible College students will be leaving on a 3-month ministry trip to the north & northeastern parts of India.  Please pray for their safety and provision for their journey, and that many people will put their faith in the Lord Jesus.

We as a family are so thankful to the Lord this Christmas season for His faithfulness.  Mariamma is extremely grateful for all your prayers during these difficult days as she continues her cancer medication.  She is trusting in the Lord for the victory only He can give.  We send you Christmas Greetings, along with all our children & grandchildren—Helen, Mishal & Len, Schuyler, Luke & Ethan, Dayan, Sheela & Dave, Sam & Ray.

Thank you for standing with us to accomplish the work of our Lord in India!

We Love You Very Much,

G.V. Mathai and Family

“What shall I return to the Lord for all of His goodness to me?” – Psalm 116:12

Dear Ones in Christ,

We pray you are keeping well during this Thanksgiving season as you reflect on how the Lord has blessed you and your loved ones this year.  We have certainly faced many trials this year, as a family, and as a nation.  But, the Lord promises to be near. Amidst all of the hardships and tragedies, we rest in His promise as we lift up our hearts and give praises and thanksgiving to the Lord.

Scripture reminds us to count and name our blessings, one by one. As a family, and as a ministry, we are so thankful for your love, prayers, and support.  You are first among the bountiful blessings we are praising the Lord for this year.  As we thank the Lord for you, we express our gratitude to you for laboring together with us to share the Gospel far and wide in India.

We are especially thankful for the fruitful ministry that has come from this year’s Leadership Training Institute program.  The Lord has provided many outreach opportunities for our team members. They were able to share the Gospel with many through tract distribution, live skits and songs of worship. We also had the opportunity to pray with and encourage community members in need of prayer.  Please pray for our team as we prepare for the December outreach, which will take place before the Christmas season.

We grieve with the church community in Sutherland Springs, Texas. Please join with us, as we extend our prayers and love to all those affected by the mass shooting. May God deeply comfort and strengthen this community.

The Mathai family requests your prayers for Mariamma, our children and their families. We are beginning to plan for a winter mission trip at the beginning of 2018.  Please join us in praying over this planning process, that we may know what the Lord has in mind for us, specifically.

Our board members join me in sending you our gratitude for your faithful partnership. May the Lord bless you and your family with the riches of His glory and keep you under the shelter of His wings.

Yours in His Service,

G.V. Mathai and Family

“The Lord is not willing that any should perish, but that all should repent and be saved.”

II Peter 3:9

Dear Ones in Christ,

The Lord in His mercy has enabled us to have our annual Fellowship Dinners in California and Washington State this month.  We thank God for all our beloved friends across the country who have helped us to maintain this ministry and reach many people in India with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, through your prayers and sacrificial support.

We have encouraging progress reports from our Bible College graduates and evangelists in various states of India.  Your prayers are being answered, and people are getting saved as worship centers are being established.  We thank God for His faithfulness in enlarging His work.  Please rejoice with us and continue praying for all the activities in India–that many more souls will come to the saving knowledge of our Lord.

Our 11th-annual Leadership Training Institute started this month at our campus in Kerala, South India.  Out of 500 people who applied, we have selected 240 to participate in this intensive 6-week Bible study course. These professional people have a genuine burden to reach out and touch their communities with the love of Christ.  Please pray for their daily strength, as well as for the encouragement and health of our staff members.

Our Bible College students and children at our Children’s Home are very happy to be at IEM.  We thank the Lord for protecting them from the dangerous viral fever that recently spread through the surrounding area.  Please continue to pray for the students and children—that they may grow strong in the grace and knowledge of our Lord.

As we see terrible tragedies take place in the world, we continue to put our trust in the Lord.  He holds the future and will fulfill His perfect plan.  We as children of God have an enormous duty to proclaim the redeeming grace of our Lord.  We love you all very much and pray the gracious Lord will bless you and help you accomplish great things for Him.

Please continue praying for Mariamma as she continues her cancer treatment. It leaves her fatigued, and she was not able to make the trip to Washington; but we know the Lord is always faithful in ALL things (Deuteronomy 7:9).

Yours in His Service,

G.V. Mathai
