At India Evangelical Mission, our ministry takes us into the following areas. Children's Home :: Bible College :: Hospital/Medical Clinic
India Evangelical Mission currently has 150 children in two homes ( Mavelikara & Idukki ), and some children we support in their homes. Many of the children living in the IEM homes are not true orphans by definition. Some of them have at least one living parent, but are unable to survive without our help because of extreme poverty. It averages $25 US dollars per month to support a child through the IEM Homes. This small amount covers housing, education, clothing, food, medical care and a loving home-like atmosphere where the children are taught about the love of Jesus Christ.
India’s population is over one billion, and a great number of the people live below the poverty level. Several millions live in slums in make-shift cardboard houses, and the children become the victims of hunger and starvation. I.E.M. developed a ministry for the ill-fated, abandonded children by providing shelter, food, clothing, medical needs and a free education. The children’s ministry is one of the most effective and fruitful ministries of I.E.M. Many of the children finish high school, and are able to become productive citizens. Others even continue on in our Bible College and go on to preach the Word of God.
If you would like to sponsor one or more children, please contact us. We'll be happy to send you the name of the children(s), their photo, along with a short biography so you may pray for them specifically, and correspond right to them through I.E.M.
The Bible College & Children's Home continue to be a center of focus for IEM. Currently we have 70 students from 7 states of India . IEM offers two degrees: a three-year Bachelor's of Theology degree and a one-year Theology certificate. The students are trained by educated professionals committed to seeing these young men and women grow in their knowledge of the Word of God. More than 450 students have graduated from the Bible College, and over 80 percent are serving the Lord in various parts of India.
Since foreign missionaries are prohibited from preaching the Gospel in India, training the Indian nationals and equipping them with the Word of God is an important part in evangelizing the country.
I.E.M. Bible College was established for the sole purpose of training up Indian nationals as pastors and evangelists to spread the Gospel throughout India.
The Bible College offers one, two, and three year diplomas to young men and women who are commited to serving the Lord in India. During their training period they have practical ministry experiences such as conducting open-air meetings, home Bible studies, and distributing Christian literature in the surrounding villages. Each year they embark on a three month short-term mission trip to the unreached people in several parts of India. Over 300 I.E.M. graduates have gone on to serve the Lord in various parts of India.
You may sponsor a college student for $50 US dollars per month. This money will be applied to the schooling and living expenses of your sponsored student. Expenses include room and board, tuition, and necessary school supplies. The Bible College provides an environment that encourages the students to become ministers of the Word of God. If you would like to help support one or more students, please send an e-mail to us and we will send you the name of the student(s) along with a brief biography of each student so that you may pray for them.
India Evangelcial Mission first established an out-patient medical clinic in 1976. All together 7 were established. Due to some medicines shipped from the US expired and out of date, Indian government restricted its shipment. With loss of medicine several clinics had to close. We now have 1 out-patient clinic and 1 in-patient hospital with 16 beds in operation for the people of India.
The poor & needy are given free treatment, and we purchase the medicine in India. In addition to year-round medical services, visiting doctors, dentists, nurses, and other health-care professionals assist IEM during short-term mission trips to India.
